We are approved by Ontario Health as a PSW Return of Service (ROS) Employer. This means that any new PSW graduates that we hire may be eligible to receive a $5,000 incentive in addition to earning our competitive hourly wage.

 $5,000 Incentive for New PSW Graduates

Who is eligible to receive this incentive?

Ontario Health has set up this incentive to help hire new graduates. For a PSW to be eligible for the $5000, you must have graduated with a PSW diploma on April 1, 2020 or later. You must also be hired by us before January 15, 2021 to receive the incentive funds.

How is the incentive paid out?

The incentive will be paid out in 2 installments. $2000 will be paid upon your start date and $3000 paid following six months of service.

Do all organizations offer this incentive?

No, not all organizations in Ontario offer this $5,000 incentive to new grads. As a publicly-funded organization, we provide care that is funded by the government, which means that we are eligible for incentives offered by the government. In the case of this incentive, we applied for, and have been approved by Ontario Health to pay $5,000 to new PSW graduates that we hire. (All new graduate hires are subject to approval by Ontario Health before funds will be paid out).

What we are looking for in an ideal new graduate

Your job involves providing support to seniors living in their homes and by assisting with personal care (i.e. grooming, bathing, dressing, and toileting), meal preparation, light housekeeping, and socialization and emotional support.

As a new PSW graduate, you should understand that your clients are dealing with illness or frailty, and simple tasks can be challenging for them.  We are looking for PSW candidates who want to help make their clients’ daily routine more manageable. You should be comfortable travelling to and from client’s homes throughout the day, in a community that is near you.

As you build your career at Circle of Care, we know that you will start to take pride and fulfillment from the excellent care you provide to clients and the professional relationships you build with them and their caregivers. At Circle of Care, you will work on a multi-disciplinary team and receive support from a Service Coordinator and Client Services Supervisor (RN/RPN).

New Graduate Requirements:

  • Ontario Certified Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate
  • Current Immunization Records
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • Fluency in both verbal and written English (additional languages i.e. Russian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tamil, French, Italian, or Spanish are considered an asset)

How are we different?

Sense of Community

You’ll have the opportunity to meet and spend time with other PSWs during several yearly events and experiences over the course of your career with Circle of Care.  Examples of such events include a Two-Day Orientation, On-the-Job Training, our Annual PSW Learning Event and community-based team meetings.  You’ll develop meaningful and long standing professional relationships with your supervisor and coordinator, who will provide support and connection for you while you work in the community.  While we are now conducting our events virtually, we look forward to the day when our PSWs can connect in-person again. One such event that we are excited to host once the pandemic is over is our Annual Party! It’s a yearly event that brings together all our employees to celebrate our successes and honour our staff.

Competitive Wage

At Circle of Care, you’ll receive a competitive hourly wage and be eligible for wage increases as you grow your career and seniority with us.

In addition, since we’re funded by the government, you’ll receive a $3/hr wage increase from the Ministry of Health for all hours worked between October 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.

Development Opportunities

You’ll have the opportunity to take part in a variety of learning events through the course of your Circle of Care career.  Development starts Day One when you take part in a multi-disciplinary Orientation session.  You’ll train with an experienced Circle of Care PSW called a Preceptor, who will make sure you’re confident in your role before you start taking clients independently.  Your development will continue with our annual Personal Support Worker Learning Event as well as the opportunity to become a certified Preceptor to other new Personal Support Workers should you so choose.
