North York Elder Abuse Network – Community Event

The North York Elder Abuse Network will be holding a special free community event on June 29 to highlight online frauds and scams in older adults.

Note: The event will be held downstairs at the North York Seniors Centre. The centre is located near Finch Subway Station and parking is available at the TTC lot for $5.00, or underground at North American Centre with a voucher from NYSC will be $4).

Presentation: “A Primer about Online Frauds & Scams” featuring Sheldon Parker
A graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, Sheldon Parker was a founding partner Parker and Zener LLP, specializing in Real Estate, Commercial and Estate files. Throughout his legal career he was a frequent lecturer on legal issues at banks and real estate offices. He retired from active practice in early 2016. Sheldon lectures extensively on politics, fraud, elder abuse and Estate planning throughout the GTA.

Presentation: Theatre in the Web
Theatre in the Web acting group, will perform a few vignettes on types of fraud that seniors may experience in the community.

Panel Discussion with representatives from Community Agencies on Support and Resources for the community, including Maria Valle Perez, MSW, RSW, from Circle of Care. Resource and information tables will be available.
