Caregiver Drop-in Support Group Series: Coping with Responsive Behaviours at Home

Join us for our August edition of our Caregiver Drop-In Support Group Series. This month, we will be discussing the topic of personal expressions (responsive behaviours). We will be joined by Ingrid Carlin, an education facilitator with Loft, who will speak about this important topic.

I am more than my behaviour

This session provides an understanding and appreciation for an individual’s behaviour in connection to cognitive and physical abilities. It reviews dementia, mental health and other neurological disorders from a behaviour perspective and introduces techniques for caregivers and families to use in their day to day routines.

Objectives

  • Discussing Dementia as a diagnosis
  • Understanding Responsive Behaviours
  • Validation and Reminiscence Therapy
  • Self Care and Interventions

About our Drop-In Caregiver Support Group Series

Please note that based on caregiver feedback, we have restructured our drop-in group to best suit the needs of caregivers. The group will offer presentations and education on topics of interest either identified or submitted by caregivers in the community and will leave time for group discussion, peer support, and resource sharing after the presentations.
